The investment in six inter-level boarding schools in border areas of Da Nang city is not merely an educational project but a core political task receiving special direction and attention from the Politburo. Building these substantial schools along the nation’s frontier holds significant importance in retaining local populations, nurturing human resources, and strengthening the national defense and security posture.

Carrying this mission, the six major construction sites in border areas are now “galloping ahead,” determined to overcome the harsh mountainous terrain and complete the projects on schedule for the 2026–2027 academic year.

The implementation of these six boarding school projects has faced numerous challenges due to fragmented terrain, difficult transportation, and limited availability of local construction materials.

Nguyen Cong Thanh, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Civil, Industrial and Technical Infrastructure Construction Investment Project Management Board, acknowledge these realities.

The inter-level boarding schools in Dak Pring and La Ee are located in remote mountainous areas near the border, where travel conditions are extremely challenging. National Highway 14D leading to these sites has seriously deteriorated, greatly affecting the transport of sand, stone and other construction materials.

Nevertheless, a spirit of determination has driven notable breakthroughs as of late February 2026.

At the La Ee School project (270.7 billion VND), all 47 land plots belonging to 29 households have been handed over. The contractor has proactively transported stone crushing equipment to the site to ensure material supply and has registered to work through the Lunar New Year, pushing earthwork volume to over 95,300 out of 377,000 cubic metres.

Similarly, at the Dak Pring School project (289 billion VND), 100% of the site has been cleared, with ground leveling across different sections reaching 35% to 95%. Mountainous terrain poses significant challenges to project construction.

Meanwhile, at Tay Giang School (a project worth 285.8 billion VND), contractors have completed foundation excavation and poured blinding concrete for 50% of the classroom and administrative blocks.

At A Vuong School (344.7 billion VND), a temporary school has been fully completed to ensure uninterrupted learning for students, while foundation excavation for new buildings has reached 50%, despite unresolved compensation issues involving two households.

The current bottleneck lies at the La Dee School project (291.5 billion VND), where only 3.6 out of 7.8 hectares of land have been handed over.

On-site directive: Accelerate before the rainy season

To ensure the projects stay on track, on February 24–25, a working delegation led by Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Tran Anh Tuan conducted on-site inspections across all six projects, trekking through forested terrain.

City leaders instructed contractors to change their approach, adopting synchronized construction methods instead of sequential execution. Vice Chairman Tran Anh Tuan emphasised:

In organising forces on the construction site, responsibilities must be clearly defined - each team must perform its designated tasks. The sequence should be: floor team first, followed by the concrete team. While the floor team is working, coordination with electrical and plumbing teams must be carried out simultaneously to install conduits and wiring beneath the floor.

Local

We must take into account the scenario when the stormy rainy season arrives - there will be no way to provide cover to carry out the roofing work. When strong winds and storms hit, workers cannot climb to height, cannot lay roofing sheets or pour concrete; all efforts at that point would be futile.

The six boarding school projects in the border areas of Da Nang are not merely construction works; they are a call from the heart, a mission to bring education to remote frontiers.

With a powerful and determined acceleration, the schools are expected to be completed on schedule, opening a bright new chapter for education in highland areas in the 2026-2027 academic year./.
